There were at least 200 people and kids in attendance at the launch of Cambourne's new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA). Despite the wind and a few brief showers the day was a massive success, with adults and kids alike taking part in the sports fun. One parent commented: "at last there's something for the kids to do here, instead of just drifting around the streets".

On both the 5-aside football and tennis areas there were organised events, including beat the goalie and fastest serve competitions as well as real games. Particularly successful were the tennis coaching sessions and toddlers football events. Both the Tennis Club and football clubs, Men's and Females', received lots of interest from people wanting to join up.

There were plenty of prizes given away, thanks must go to Campbell's and Cambridgeshire FA for their support in making the day a success. The BBQ was also a hit with everyone, we sold over 100 burgers, including the famous "double burger" and 100 sausages in buns. In keeping with the "keep fit and healthy" theme here were also fruit drinks and flavoured mineral water on sale.

Because of the success of the day we are hopeful of organising another Sports and Fun Day later on in the year.

There are still some issues outstanding with the MUGA and these will need to be addressed before the facility is fully taken over by the local council.
