POWER CUT
Hi Roger,
Just a quick update, a very nice man (Allan Strong) from 24/7 Fault / Engineering Management called me to explain the situation about the power outages in Cambourne. Anyway, he confirmed a Power Outage did occur around Midday 16th April around Oakdene, where Mowlem were doing some excavations and hit a 11kV cable (underground), 24/7 had marked the line of the cable only 24hrs previously for Mowlem!!!
The problem initially disconnected all users on the Bourne Primary Circuit since it tripped the whole primary circuit, over the next 30 mins 24/7 switched on all but two sub stations in Cambourne by rerouting Power for adjacent networks. The last two sub-stations took a few hours the come back online.
Anyway, since it was 3rd party damage 24/7 will send any claims they receive onwards to Mowlem. If people have equipment damaged etc. then send a claim to 24/7 Insurance Claims Department (FAO Phillip Stapleton) 24/7 won't pay but Mowlem should!!!
When I commented a number of residents had electrical devices that didn't work following the power cut he said, I bet it was Pace Satellite / Cable Boxes and Potterton Boilers. I said yep, he said this was very typically and 24/7 get loads of claims following power outages for these two products. Pace repair there boxes for free of charge and have changed the design of new boxes to fix the issue. As for Potterton the 24/7 guy says they are aware of issue but dont' admit to it!!! Therefore I need to pursue this further its unacceptable Potterton have a board that can't handle power outages.
Anyway, we are making some progress. Please feel free to upload this info to the web.
Cheers
Clayton
