Cambourne Cricket Club Update on Pavilion The Cambourne Cricket Club Committee would like to reassure all junior players and parents that the cricket pavilion is safe to use, despite recent local newspaper reports. The Parish Council feel that the Hub is a more suitable venue for young children's parties, but is happy to allow junior cricketers to continue to use the pavilion. The press reported this decision as “pavilion becomes ‘no go’ area for children”, which is highly exaggerated and misleading. The welfare of our junior members is absolutely our top priority and we are taking this issue extremely seriously. As a result we will look to work with the Parish Council to undertake a formal Health and Safety assessment prior to the new season in May 2008 to ensure absolute clarity on this issue. Indeed, we are lucky enough to have a thriving junior section at the club and a growing pool of cricketing talent. Last season junior cricketers broke through into the senior ranks and represented the District, and we expect the same progression this season. This process is being supported by indoor practice sessions that are held throughout the winter in Cambridge, with coaching from ECB qualified coaches. Therefore, if you are a junior cricketer looking to learn and enjoy the game, Cambourne is an ideal place to play! If you are interested in joining the club, please contact our Chairman Danny White on 07774 142740. Happy Christmas from everyone at Cambourne Cricket Club!
