Collection of clothing has been suspended

The collection of boxes will not now continue until 6th January at Bharat Bhavan (the old library near the bridge) in Mill Road, Cambridge and at 42 Mill Road, Cambridge.Telephone 01223 464545 for more information.
4th January - Bharat Bhavan say they've now collected 2 warehouses of stuff, which is the most that they can transport at the moment. They've therefore just stopped collecting.

Collections of money for victims of the disaster are being made throughout the area and can be made by telephone to the Disasters Emergency Committee 0870 6060900. Donations can be made online at https://www.donate.bt.com/bt_form_dec.htm

There was an area collection point for items to be sent to the disaster area

South Cambs Offices on the business park in Cambourne, items can still be left but....only as above link - no clothes

Dozens of people helped out over two days, some were there all day both days, especially on new years day from 8am until 9pm !
All ages, young and old gave up their time to help out, there was a great atmosphere as people worked.
The Sri Lankan men who picked up the items from South Cambs headquarters were very appreciative of all that had been collected
Lots of clothing, shoes, blankets, medication, food, tents, toys, cooking utensils, soaps. One gentleman had gone to Tesco and purchased £60 worth of medication to donate.
All these were sorted into boxes ready for the journey.
