DISTRICT COUNCIL Vote on May 1st

Roger Hume - The Liberal Democrat Party

My experience from the various voluntary roles that I have undertaken since moving to Cambourne will enable me to be an active member of the District Council.
I have lived in Cambourne for 8 years.
I have taken early retirement from working at Cambridge University as a professional engineer.
But I have no intention of retiring yet and am employed as clerk and responsible financial officer to Caldecote Parish Council, having recently passed the qualification - certificate in local council administration (CiLCA) and gaining quality status for Caldecote Parish Council.
The villages of Cambourne are under pressure from further development and I think it important that until Cambourne is fully built and allowed to develop its own character as a village, no further development should be considered.

Mark David Hurn The Labour Party

The Labour Government continues to deliver, improving health, policing and transport. For example, measures to give all patients the right to choose where they are treated, free off-peak bus travel anywhere in the UK for the over 60s and eligibly disabled, and a neighbourhood policing team in every neighbourhood. I am the Labour Party candidate for Cambourne, in the district council elections. If elected, I would do my utmost to improve the quality of life in Cambourne. Firstly, I would push for 'facilities first', that the promised leisure centre and shops be provided first - before new housing. The provision of adequate school places would also be a priority. Secondly I would push for improved policing in Cambourne, particularly against anti-social behaviour. I am 43 and work as a librarian for the University of Cambridge. My main leisure interest is amateur astronomy. I have lived in Lower Cambourne for five years involving myself in the Vine School, the church and serving on Cambourne Parish Council for four years. I feel I know Cambourne and its people well and would do my best to serve them. I can be contacted at Mark@star-names.freeserve.co.uk or telephone 715788.

Mervyn Benjamin Loynes The Conservative Party

Mervyn Loynes lives in Eltisley one of the villages making up the Bourn Ward.
He is married with two children and five grandchildren and is very active in the local community, and is currently helping the cricket club renovate the sightscreens.
Having retired early, he now has the time and energy to work for his local community.
Mervyn worked for 34 years in the film industry, in every form of entertainment production from major films to TV and pop videos.
His interests are classic and vintage cars and motorcycles, and traditionally built boats - he is a member of the 'Thames Traditional Boat Rally' committee at Henley-on-Thames.
