Easy-peasy for council worker in early bath

A council officer took a step for charity on Saturday.

Susanna Harris is helped into a bath of mushy peas by local community beat officer Chris Bradley and model Becky Speed.



Susannah Harris, local development officer at South Cambridgeshire District Council, was voted to take a mushy peas bath on the village green, as part of the Cambourne Summer Festival fun. Villagers paid £1 to vote for one of the three nominees, the council officer, Pc Chris Bradley, Cambourne community beat manager, or local glamour model Becky S, to take the peas plunge on Great Cambourne Meadow, Monkfield Lane.

Children were also sponsored to brave the bath, raising money for their school.

The festival finished on Saturday evening after a week of fun events and activities.

Children could enjoy a range of sports workshops, while there was a disco on Friday.

Saturday saw a procession to the meadow where there were community stalls and a children's playground .

During the afternoon there were karate and yoga demonstrations, a dance display and a samba drum workshop.

The fun continued into the evening with a quiz, DJ and live bands.
