FIREWORKS EVENING 2003
A VERY ENJOYABLE EVENING ORGANISED BY DEDICATED COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF THE CAMBOURNE RESIDENT ASSOCIATION AND AIDED BY OTHER RESIDENTS WAS HELD ON SATURDAY 8TH NOVEMBER

THE EVENT WAS STAGED IN THE CAMBOURNE COUNTRY PARK, AT A NEW LAUNCH POSITION AWAY FROM THE LAKE TO AVOID DISTURBING THE WILDLIFE

A HUGE NUMBER OF RESIDENTS ATTENDED THE "FREE ENTRY" EVENT AND A BRILLIANT DISPLAY WAS PROVIDED BY CHRIS LINCOLN AND PETER DRAKE AIDED BY ESSEX PYROTECHNICS

THERE WAS A 10 MINUTE DELAYED START WHEN SOME RESIDENTS CROSSED A CLOSED OFF AREA, THIS WAS QUICKLY SPOTTED BY MARSHALLS AND THE DISPLAY TEAM
CHRIS'S EXCELLENT RISK ASSESMENT WORKED.

A SPECTACULAR BONFIRE STARTED THE EVENT ORGANISED BY LOUISE ROWLEY-SPENDLOVE, AIDED BY A TEAM OF HELPERS AND "DISGUSTINGLY" GOOD TIMBER FROM THE BUILDERS IN CAMBOURNE !

CATERING WAS PROVIDED TO A HIGH STANDARD BY MR BURGERS FROM CAMBRIDGE, WHO HAD AN EXCELLENT SELECTION OF FOOD AND CATERED WELL TOO FOR VEGETARIANS,

THERE WERE 4 GUYS AND A SPECIAL ONE MADE BY MIKE JOCELYN, HE WAS NAMED "SID" AND WAS NOT BURNED ON THE NIGHT, WE HAVE OTHER PLANS FOR SID AS HE REPRESENTED THE 106 LEGAL AGREEMENT FOR CAMBOURNE, YES THE ONE THAT WE HAVE BEEN SO DISSAPOINTED BY, WATCH OUT FOR FURTHER DETAILS !.

THE FIRST AID COVER WAS PROVIDED BY ST JOHNS AMBULANCE SERVICE.
THE GUMBLE FAMILY PROVIDED A SMALL FAIRGROUND.
HENRY FROM THE CROSS KEYS AT CAXTON DID VERY WELL, WITH THE BAR.

WE ARE PLEASED TO REPORT THE EVENT WAS SELF FINANCING, PEOPLE WERE VERY GENEROUS, A COLLECTION WAS HELD TO ENSURE WE HAVE A SIMILAR EVENT NEXT YEAR.

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE COULD RELY ON MORE HELP FOR EVENTS, CAMBOURNE IS GROWING AT A PACE AND THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS TO ORGANISE THE ORIGINAL PIONEERS ARE HAVING TO CONCENTRATE THEIR EFFORTS ON OTHER THINGS.

A SINCERE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO MADE THIS EVENT POSSIBLE

If the person who stole a dozen community owned light bulbs from the site between 10pm when we left Saturday evening and 8am Sunday could get in touch I am sure we could let you have a few more :-)
If you were unable to contribute on the night

Well done to all concerned who made this event possible!!
It was a brilliant evening with the bonfire, food, bar and fireworks.

Well done to all that organized it - it was a great occasion and lots of work was put in, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope to see more of the same next year
Yet again a well organised, fun event. Well done (and thanks!) to all of those concerned.
