Garage fire - Great Cambourne - South Cambs
30 June 2011, 12.15pm
At 12.15pm today two crews from St Neots and Cambridge were called to a garage fire on Greenhaze Lane in Great Cambourne.

Residents tried using a garden hose to fight the fire and also some other people moved the cars off the driveway (with hand brakes still on) as the heat was so intense

It took 20 minutes for the fire brigade to arrive.
This was a fire affecting the middle garage in a block of three. The middle garage was well alight when firefighters arrived.
The fire had also started to spread to the adjacent garage on the left.
Foster Way is also very close, all homes there have a conservatory backing on to the garage.

Firefighters used two hose reels and a jet to extinguish the fire.
The middle garage was totally destroyed by the fire and the left hand garage roof was fire damaged.
Firefighters returned to their stations by 2.40pm.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
