Rovers U8
Another cold Saturday morning and Cambourne Rovers U8
played host to a young KC Cougars team.
A strong westerly wind blowing from one end to the other, this would
prove pivotal late on in the game.
Cambourne scored first, but Cougars equalised. Again Cambourne scored
and again Cougars scored, 2-2. With the wind behind our backs Cambourne
scored a brace but when the sides changed ends Cougars added two of
their own, 4-4! Going into the final quarter, and with the wind at our
backs, Cambourne added a quick three goals against a tiring Cougars
side. Final score 7-4 to Cambourne which was a little harsh in an evenly
matched contest that was played in an excellent spirit. And well done
to Cambourne's two strikers with Kieran Mears scoring four and James
Teale also scoring his hat trick!

Cambourne Rovers U12 An eight man Cambourne Rovers U12
football squad had a tough challenge on 30th March playing Eversden
Gunners. From the kick-off Eversden attacked, however, despite being
3 men down the Cambourne squad succeeded in tackling and passing the
ball well making it more difficult than expected for Eversden.
There was some great goalkeeping from man of the match,
Alex Jay, while Mark Dancy, Lewis Moon, Jake Mancer and Aneesh Sharma
all played with great determination, keeping a great back line and catching
Eversden repeatedly off-side. Cambourne’s Harry Gardner, Ben Littledyke
and Jabbar Sheikh did well further forward and made many good passes
and kept Eversden’s defenders back.
With such a depleted squad, the 3 player difference
showed and Eversden went on to win the match 7:0.

In a local
derby on Sunday 9th March, Cambourne Rovers U12 entertained Cambourne
Eagles at home. From the kick-off both teams were keen to perform well
although being virtually at opposite ends of the league table. The Eagles
challenged hard, but the Rovers defence and some superb goal keeping
from Man of the Match, Alex Jay, kept the score to 0:1 at half time.
With both
teams performing well, the second half saw the Rovers challenge more
strongly with the midfield and some of the defence moving further forward.
However, the Eagles made the most of the space and were quick to follow
up opportunities.
The Rovers
played exceptionally well, showing some great determination and good
performances which were a credit to them. The final score was 0:4 to
the Eagles.

Cambourne
Rovers U8 – Saturday 5th January On a sunny morning, and after some
early confusion having to change venue due to a waterlogged pitch, the
game got underway an hour late.
Cambourne
got off to a flying start with Kieran Mears and James Teale each scoring
a brace in the first period. Bluntisham fought back in the second period
scoring three goals of the own.
Cambourne
could only field five eligible players and the tiredness took its toll
in the final period. Callum McLean managed to add another goal, Fraser
Blair and Sam Bywater did well in defence, but tired legs allowed two
late goals to settle the match 6-5 to Bluntisham.

On another
very cold morning Fenstanton Blues arrived in Cambourne with lots of
support. The Christmas season had struck early leaving both teams fielding
under strength teams.
Despite the cold weather both teams looked to play attacking football.
As with two weeks ago Fenstanton started off the stronger team and were
rewarded with a quick succession of goals.
Once again this season however, Rovers battled on against their better
trained opposition, showing great resilience and fight. With Callum
McLean making some fine saves in goal, Fraser Blair and Sam Bywater
tackling in defence, and with Kieran Mears and James Teale up front,
Cambourne Rovers U8 were rewarded with a couple of late goals.
Too late to alter the outcome which ended in a 2-10 loss but enough
to give the lads something to smile about on the way home!

On Sunday
16th December, Cambourne Rovers U12 had a successful match in the third
round of the Knock Out Cup away to Stretham Sporting which Cambourne
went on to win 7:2 despite Stretham opening the scoring from a high

However, Harley Godfrey quickly equalised for Cambourne. Stretham kept
the pressure on and, despite defenders Gus Skuttowe and Michael Smith
putting in some great tackles, it was again Stretham who took the lead
before Ben Littledyke equalised the score at 2:2 for Cambourne.
With all to play for, some good attacks were made by Mark Dancy and
Harry Gardner, however, it was Harley Godfrey who again struck home
two more goals making the score 4:2 at half time. The second half started
with both teams challenging well with some great defending from Alex
Jay and Jake Betson and goal keeping from Lewis Moon. It was Jake Mancer’s
great pass to Harley who again scored which saw the second half go all
Cambourne’s way. With further goals for Jabbar Sheikh and another goal

Saturday 8th December
On a cold
and wet morning, Cambourne Rovers U8 arrived at Fenstanton Blues expecting
a tough game.
In only Cambourne’s second match we had lost heavily to the Fenstanton
Reds.
Was history going to repeat itself? We hoped not and went out wanting
to play well. Cambourne battled hard but like the previous game, we
were outplayed by a well organised team. Without our regular goalkeeper
the kids were keen to help out in goal. Unfortunately we could not score
in this game, with our only clear opportunity being a penalty that was
well saved. It was great to see the kids trying so hard against better
opposition and as they came off the field, thoroughly soaked and having
lost 11-0, there were still smiles.
No Man of the Match, today was a great team effort!

strikes across their goal mouth. The game looked certain for a Cambourne
victory as man of the match, Harley Godfrey, scored a hat trick in the
first half making the half time score 1:3. Further good attempts at
goal were made by Jake Mancer and Ben Littledyke. Some great challenges
were made by Alex Jay, Jabbar Sheikh, Dominic Jay, Mark Dancy, Jake
Betson, Gus Skuttowe, Michael Smith and goal keeper Lewis Moon, all
of which helped secure the first half lead.
The second half started as the first half began with Cambourne playing
close to the Warboys goal, with again repeated strikes across the goal
mouth, some of which were cleared well by the Warboys defence, but some
tries just failed to go in. With much confidence Cambourne pushed too
far forward which allowed Warboys to score two quick goals in a minute
equalising the score at 3:3. Warboys rallied with this and challenged
more strongly and the final result was a very disappointing 6:3

Rovers Under 11
Rovers Goal Fest. Saturday
saw Cambourne Rovers Juniors under 11 play host to Hemmingford Colts
league match, in what proved to be a high scoring fast paced match.
Straight from the kick off
Rovers showed urgency and commitment. Rovers were 1-0 up after just
11/2 minutes, when Alby Smith pressured the defense, won the ball and
struck the ball pas the keeper. Josh Dodds-Mills proved to hot to handle
after some good work on the left led to Rovers second.
Cambournes defense was solid
with Tomascz Klasicki and Finn Savage working hard. Alby latched onto
a threaded ball by Peter Wainwright to outpace the defense and coolly
slot home. Not to be outdone Josh seized onto a loose ball and lashed
it into the roof of the Hemmingford net, to grab his second and Rovers
fourth.
It was all one way traffic
now with Rovers in a buoyant mood. A foul half way into the second half
gave Peter Wainwright the chance to show off his dead ball skills, his
thunderbolt of a free kick left the goalkeeper no chance as it screamed
into the net. Josh completed his hatrick after some good midfield work
by Rovers. Callum Mills at full back was quietly yet methodically dealing
with any attacks that Hemmingford could master and after winning a challenge
played a pinpoint pass to Josh who stormed in for his fourth and Rovers
7th.
The second half saw Hemingford
more resolute to Rovers attacks, Archie Miller whose fine display in
goal was now upstaged by his central midfield role, winning the ball
and distributing it to the strikers. The pressure told and a corner
produced an own goal by Hemmingford.
The oppositions heads never
dropped and they managed a goal to lift their spirits. Archie Miller
scored Rovers 9th after winning the ball, passing to the wing, only
to receive a return pass that he struck first time leaving the goalkeeper
helpless as the ball flew into the net.
Alby Smith completed his
hatrick after teasing the defense and added his fourth. Shortly afterwards
Adhan Yassen played as striker and also as right midfield and wrong
footed the defense to cause mayhem at every opportunity. Liam Hunt carried
out some good defense work as he always does and after winning the ball
saw a long range effort only just saved by the keeper. This was a truly
great display by a team whose confidence is sky high and on this display
are a match for anyone.

It was Clark again who added the 3rd as he powered into the box and
slid the ball under the advancing keeper. Cambourne were rarely troubled

ROVERS JUNIORS 8 BLUNTISHAM RANGERS 1
On Saturday 8th September,
Cambourne Rovers Juniors played their first ever league game. A bright
sunny morning was the perfect setting. Both sides waited nervously,
the whistle blew, both teams sprung into action. Cambourne became the
dominant side
with Evon White collecting the ball in midfield and continually attacking,
supported by Callum Mclean and Fraser Blair. Kieran Mears defended superbly
and then setting up the
attacking play.
It was from a Bluntisham
attack that Rovers opened scoring, Kieran defended well playing the
ball forward finding Evon, who went on with a determined run and struck
a left foot shot into the net. Rovers kept the pressure on, winning
the ball in mid field and pushing forward. Their reward came with a
second goal , Evon again burst though the middle but saw his shot crash
against the post. The rebound was coolly slotted home by quick thinking
Callum Maclean. Buntisham started to get back into the game but goalkeeper
Kieran Mills made several great saves to keep Rovers safe. Evon scored
Rovers third after a good build up of play involving Fraser and Callum.
The first period ended 3-0
to the Rovers. The second period saw a different Rovers side with Samuel
Bywater defending, Kielan Grant and Casey Bull in midfield and
Callum Reynolds as Striker.
Bluntisham started brightly
and after some good link up play, a stunning long range shot flew into
Rovers net. Rovers responded quickly, Callum broke down right and cut
into the area slotting the ball home. Sam had to defend constantly to
keep Bluntisham out, but coped very well. Casey and Kielan were a lively
midfield pairing and it was a pass from Casey that set up Callum for
his second. At the end of the second period the score was
5-1 to Rovers
The last two periods saw
the game very tightly contested with both teams defending and attacking.
With approximately 2 minutes remaining, Callum Reynolds was fouled just
