LOWER CAMBOURNE INSTEAD OF JUST - CAMBOURNE Villagers change addressCAMBOURNE residents are to get a change in their postal address, after more than 75 per cent voted in favour of it. Instead of living in plain old "Cambourne, Cambridge", their official Royal Mail address will henceforward be either "Great Cambourne", "Lower Cambourne" or "Upper Cambourne, Cambridge".The change is taking place after 468 residents voted in favour, compared with 142 against. The ballot was organised under the terms of Royal Mail's code of practice for making changes to postal addresses, which came into force in March of 2002. David Ivall, Royal Mail area manager for Cambridgeshire, said: "Customers in the community have made their wishes known, and we are delighted that we will be able to respond to their request, and the changes to the address will be made in the next few days." All residents will receive a letter next week confirming the ballot result and their new postal address. Source Cambridge Evening News 17/10/03 |
