IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO EMPLOY A NUMBER OF STAFF TO ADMINISTER AND MAINTAIN THE VILLAGES. PARISH CLERK, GROUNDSMAN, CLEANERS, LITTER COLLECTOR FOR EXAMPLE
I AM TOLD THAT WHEN BAR HILL WAS FIRST BUILT THIER PRECEPT WAS HIGH.

IF YOU THINK YOUR TAX BANDING IS WRONG

You need to appeal within six months apparently.
If you'd like to work out an approximate price for your house in 1991 (when the band prices are meant to be set) have a look at:

Thanks to Sandra for the following
I work for another local authority in Council Tax section.
We tell out customers who move into a new house to halve the market value today to get a rough estimate of the prices on 1st April 1991. Not sure if it is the same for Cambourne?
The Council Tax bands are the same throughout England.
The Banding of the property is done by the Valuation Office (part of the Inland Revenue) rather than the local authority. Their website is useful for more information www.voa.gov.uk
prices on 1st April 1991
A up to and including £40,000
B £40,001-£52,000
C £52,001-£68,000
D £68,001-£88,000
E £88,001-£120,000
F £120,000-£160,000
G £160,001-£320,000
H more than £320,000
It is well worth appealing if you house is put into a band which you feel is too high. I did this 4 years ago when I move to Great Cambourne and got my band reduced (also the same types of house in the street as far as I am aware). It is worth speaking to others in you street about which band their house is in. You can also find out the Council Tax band for any banded property in the country on www.voa.gov.uk.
If lots of people appeal the Valuation Office who set the bands may get the message that they are setting them too high!!
Anybody in a new house can appeal within 6 months and any new council tax payer has the same rights (if you move into an existing property also has the right to appeal)
If you are disabled do not forget to apply to SCDC for a reduction in you banding. To receive this you must be using a wheelchair indoors or have a second bathroom/kitchen or a room set aside for your equipment that is essential/of major importance to your well-being.
Good luck!
