SEPTEMBER 11th 2001
I was at work
at the University Engineering Labs in Cambridge, my son Neil
phoned me from London where he was working and said a plane had
hit
the
tower.
I looked
at the BBC web site.
While we were talking the second plane went
in and it was then clear it was not an accident
Neil had been in the Towers earlier that year and was actually
due to fly out to New York in 8 days to work.
He liked New York so much he had asked his company if he could
go out for 6 months to work in their New York Office, they had
said
no
but
he
could
go
for
2 years!
He did in fact go out as scheduled on one of the first flights
after the tragedy 8 days later.
