Newcrest, the developer, has confirmed that contracts have been exchanged, subject to planning permission, to deliver both a new hotel and a family pub/restaurant on this prominent Gateway site.
In February 2018 a planning application was submitted for a McMullen family pub/restaurant overlooking Lake Lambert, with a 134 bedroom hotel behind that.
Newcrest have worked closely with Taylor Woodrow and Bovis and as such, the hotel is specifically designed with only a basic food and beverage offering to encourage its residents to use the wider ‘town centre’ dining and drinking outlets.
The application is due to be determined in May 2018 and, all being well, these new facilities should then be open for business in late 2019.
