East West Rail – Central Section: CamBed RailRoad Alternative
CamBed RailRoad (CBRR) is a Community based voluntary think tank that is proposing that East West Rail consider an alternative route that takes in the areas in South Cambridge that are taking the lion’s share of development in the District.

The CBRR proposal includes a railway station at Cambourne.
>  Cambourne Parish Council supports the proposed CamBed RailRoad Route.
>  Cambourne Parish Council has agreed to the CBRR proposal.

A statement by CBBR said: “The Government is planning to complete a railway between Oxford and Cambridge via Bedford. We feel strongly it should run reasonably close to the A428, including providing a station at Cambourne, to serve as many people as possible. The aim would be for this project to be sustainable, eco’ friendly and with low carbon emission by providing easy connectivity to the station for Cambourne residents.”

East West Rail was established by the UK government as a non-departmental public arms-length body in late 2017, to accelerate delivery of the Oxford to Cambridge rail link. East West Rail have launched a consultation on alternative routes – these can be viewed at www.eastwestrail.co.uk/haveyoursay

Two of the route options (B & E) indicate the provision of a station at Cambourne.
If you support that there should a station in Cambourne, please take the time to respond to the consultation which closes on the 11 March 2019.

NO SUPPORT MEANS NO CHANCE!

Bedford and Cambridge Route Option Consultation: Have Your Say
Bedford and Cambridge Route Option Consultation: Have Your Say
The public consultation will run from 28 January to 11 March 2019.
While we are several years from starting to build the railway, this is your opportunity to have your say on the route options at an early stage.

Background
East West Rail is creating a new rail connection between Oxford and Cambridge.
This will connect communities, making it faster, easier and cheaper to travel in the local area, as well as opening up job opportunities, supporting local business and helping the economy to grow. You can read more about the scheme here.
While the Western Section between Oxford and Bedford can be built by reinstating and upgrading old rail lines, for the Central Section between Bedford and Cambridge we need to build an entirely new rail line.
The final alignment of this rail line and new stations will be located within the broad area shown on the above map.

For the last year, we’ve been developing route options and want to hear your views on the five most promising.
