Cambourne Parish Nursing Service is a service provided by Cambourne Church.
Parish nursing is all about supporting people and communities towards whole person healthcare.
Parish nurses work with people of all ages and backgrounds, of any religion or none. Whether it’s simply giving moral support during a medical crisis, giving general health advice or educating for health, “signposting” people to various support or medical services, praying for people if they would like this, clarifying medical procedures or issues or simply listening.
They focus on the person, rather than just a specific medical condition, integrating the different aspects of health.
The parish nurse facilitates a Health & Wellbeing Club for older adults which meets alternate Friday mornings in the Old Blue School during term time (dates in the Cambourne Crier or on posters around the community). The session includes chair-based exercise, time for socialising and a speaker. The parish nurse has also worked with a team to run ‘Shine’ on several occasions; this is a short course for women to promote self esteem and self worth. Future dates will be advertised widely when available.
