Chess Steps is an inclusive and friendly chess club for children and young people in school years 1-11, meeting at Cambourne Church every Friday 5.00 – 6.00pm and online on Saturdays 6:30 – 7:30pm (term time only).

The session is led by a qualified teacher and chess tutor, Trevor Tolentino and supported by a variety of volunteers.
All with enhanced DBS.

Our background is in primary education and we believe in creating opportunities for children to develop their learning skills through practical learning.

Chess is a wonderful medium for children to engage and be creative, learning key skills along the way such as patience, concentration and critical thinking.
We also promote social qualities that encourage fairness, respect and sportsmanship.

Through a variety of skill and play based learning, children at Chess Steps will be taught to evaluate and learn important strategical and tactical ideas, through fun and stimulating teaching.
